Elephant and Seagull (linocut print)

As a child I used to climb on the wooden animals on New George Street in the centre of Plymouth. There were elephants, giraffes, rhinos and horses. Like many local children, any shopping trip to town with my Mum would include a little play on these animals. I took the photo that prompted me to make this print in 2020, and I didn't know that it would be the last time I would see those animals, but they were removed shortly after. The seagull and elephant together felt like a pleasing interaction between Plymouth's nature and its culture.

Open edition lino print in black ink. Somerset White Satin Paper 250gsm with a deckle edge. 148mm x 210mm approx.

The print will arrive in plastic free packaging, wrapped in tissue paper in a hard-backed envelope.

This is an original piece of art, handmade from beginning to end. Each print is unique, and there may be slight variations between them.
