Lilies and Galaxies (linocut print)
This print is inspired by the tumble of celestial bodies in Tintoretto's The Origin of the Milky Way. There are no flowers in the Tintoretto painting that now hangs in the National Gallery. But studies have revealed that it is likely missing its lower third - this print reimagines the image with the flowers included.
A new version of one of my illustrations for Dr Joanna Wolfarth's book 'Milk: An Intimate History of Breastfeeding'.
A hand printed linocut in Prussian Blue, on Okawara Select Awagami Paper. Paper size is 148.5 x 210 mm.
The print will arrive in plastic free packaging, wrapped in tissue paper in a hard-backed envelope.
This is an original piece of art, handmade from beginning to end. Each print is unique, and there may be slight variations between them.
